LinkedIn, a kind of social networking site for professionals, has more than a 100 million members now. This social networking site has over 44 million members in the US and 56 million members outside US. The announcement comes at a time when the company is planning to be the first social networking site to go public.

The social networking site for professionals has achieved great growth in developing economies: Brazil, India and Mexico. While the company is nowhere close to the premiere social networking site Facebook's 600 million member mark, it is a hugely popular with professionals all over the world.

While a number of professionals avoided using social networking site Facebook owing to privacy concerns, almost all of them admitted to using LinkedIn to further their professional goals.
